PA DEMS Chairman Jim Burn's Statement Regarding Today's Voter ID Ruling


Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Jim Burn released the following statement regarding today's Voter ID ruling: 

"Today, a judge ruled that Tom Corbett's controversial Voter ID presented an "unreasonable burden" to voters. It was clear from the introduction of this bill that Voter ID was simply a blatant, political scheme designed to confuse and disenfranchise Pennsylvania voters.


DNC Response to Court Ruling Invalidating Pennsylvania's Voter ID Law

Washington, DC – Today, a Commonwealth Court judge struck down Pennsylvania's controversial voter ID law, ruling that it "unreasonably burdens the right to vote." After the ruling, DNC Director of Voter Protection Pratt Wiley released the following statement:

Tea Party Pat Toomey Joins Extreme Tea Party Wing with Vote to Shut Down Government

Philadelphia, PA - Tonight, Senator Toomey voted against cloture and against the final Senate budget bill. Throughout the shutdown, he singlehandly extended the shutdown on October 2 by blocking a move to conference. His vote tonight not only would extend the shutdown, but force the US economy into default and careen global financial markets into crisis. This is just another continuation of Toomey's long streak of obstructionism that's way too extreme for Pennsylvania.  


IBEW Local #56 and Great Lakes Building Trades Signal Support for Andre Horton

Laborer and Democratic nominee for County Council Andre Horton announced he has received the endorsement of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #56. Business Manager Matthew McLaughlin cited Mr. Horton's support of issues of high importance to the membership in his endorsement.


Newspapers Slam Corbett for Comparing Gay Marriage to Incest

Last week, Tom Corbett compared gay marriage to incest, showing once again that he is out-of-touch with the people of Pennsylvania. Over the past few days, newspapers throughout Pennsylvania have slammed the governor and his comments as hurtful and disturbing, providing another reminder why Tom Corbett does not deserve another term.
